Mammy..Let me walk close to thee

Hello my true Valentine
The snow has just about gone, bar just the odd patch in the garden, but it’s still very cold here. No longer below freezing, but not much higher either.
I spoke with Malcolm just a few moments ago, and he told me that when he saw you earlier you were in good spirits.
We bought some daffodils in Tesco’s yesterday, which remind us very much of spring. It’s the nicest time of the year, full of new life, of plants, birds, and animals. Pretty soon the buds on the trees will open, and as we drive up to Carolyn’s we’ll see the new-born lambs with their mummies.
Last week we had the privilege to take care of Harriette, who had chickenpox (in her eyes, in her bottom…it must have been so awful).
But the week ended with Valentine’s Day, and I bought Harriette, Verity, their mummy Rachel, and her mummy Lynne a chocolate rose. I can’t buy you one, so instead I’ll draw you one.
As I write this I am listening to euphonium music, and thinking of what a wonderful mother you were to Peter, who was a euphonium player with Frickley Colliery brass band.
I am listening to the tune “Just a closer walk with thee” which I guess Peter will be playing tonight.
I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.
When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.
I also remember that it was one of Dad’s favourite songs, sung by Jim Reeves.
Well they’ll all be there singing along tonight, Jim and Joe, accompanied by Peter on euphonium.
We love you so very much, dear Mammy

Now 70, I'm getting back into website development and brand protection, as well as showcasing the delightful artistic talents of my beautiful wife Lynne. My projection will encompass a lifetime of database marketing, as well as the Christian democratic socialist ideals of my wife and I.
