Keep mum, Theresa

PM Theresa May in what was fanfared a key Brexit speech in Florence on September 22nd read from the autocue “The British people have decided to leave the European Union”.
This may or may not be true if the terms of the divorce are ever put to the people, but until they are Theresa should keep mum.

Incredibly, questions from the press accepted her base line without complaint.
And why not?
They’d been flown out business class to one of Europe’s most beautiful cities where they could wine and dine at our expense for a long weekend.
Good for them.
But back to sobriety.

Only 37 out of 100 British people eligible to vote (37.4%) voted to leave Europe.
And many of those who did were conned by the lie that £350 million per week would now be given to the NHS.
Why was she allowed to get away with a bare faced lie?

Do the press really believe it?
Or was it that they couldn’t wait to get their mouths round a Bistecca alla fiorentina?

Journalists – you’re paid good money to keep the politicians on their toes.
Even in Florence.
